Correction, you could shoot at the statue all you wanted to and a conga line was formed orbiting it. Also, see my post above about money, time and support invested.
I agree that is angering, and I don't know how much that would have cost, but even that is nothing compared to those who not only spent money on the game and possibly the PS3 just for the game, but spent money on air fare and lodging to go to FF and be publicly humiliated is a whole other ball game.

You are either willfully ignorant or knowingly spreading blatant lies. Fix the former, stop the latter, or simply stop posting all together - I really don't care which. Anyways, in case anybody actually believes you. Any progress you have made in Dust past, present or future will translate across into Legion. - the specifics of how this will work are up in the air, mostly because the specifics of how the corresponding systems in Legion will work is still up in the air. Regardless of the specifics, your level of investment in Dust (time, monetary or otherwise) will be reflected in Legion. End. Of. Discussion.

I'll do what I can to answer some of your questions over the next few days. :) It's only the first day after Fanfest so I'm a little weary, but I'll do my best! Some answers for you, based on what we know:
- Project Legion will be determined to be a "go" or a "no go" when Hilmar et al. sign off on it. We obviously really want it to grow in to a real boy and become everything this game's vision is made out to be. It's not at the point in development for that call to be made just yet.
- Character transfer is a no-brainer from a conceptual standpoint, but it's specifics are difficult from a development standpoint. I understand the frustration that it wasn't made crystal clear during the keynote. Let me elaborate a little as to why it's difficult, though. As presented in CCP Z's talk, we're working super hard on developing a progression system and economy that will kick ass. So, if some things may not exist or make sense should Legion become a reality, then those items couldn't carry over (in their current form, anyway). Rest assured though, we will do what we can to preserve what is currently there and figure out solutions for what is not. That is my current understanding. :)
Lets take the first two points from Saberwing.
1) We don't even know if the project CCP has been neglecting Dust for over the last months will even be a "go," so how can you guarantee that anyone's time or money investment will be worth it? For all we know, they may decide Dust/Legion is a lost cause and cancel it like WOD.
2) Like you say, being in early production, and not knowing what crossover in terms of skills and isk etc Legion will have with Dust, they cannot say what will transfer. Because there are no specifics, you can't make guarantees that they will be able to appropriately provide recompense for what was given.
At the very least, those that purchased a PS3 just for Dust will not be refunded the money, nor will those of us who are console only players be provided some kind of monetary incentive or discount on a gaming PC to take advantage of the time and monetary investments we have already made.
I don't think they even bothered to apologize to the mercs who showed up for FF just for Dust, only to find absolutely zero info about Dust.
Logic =/= lies just because I take an opposing view point.
